The Future of Paranormal Research

The unexplained has, for centuries, held fascination for us. A decade into the new millenium, that hasn’t changed. The paranormal researcher is still at large, hopping from location to location in hopes of capturing evidence of some kind for the existence of what might be called spiritual reality. But modern parapsychologists have at their disposal an array of equipment that their predecessors lacked. Paranormal research has become more sophisticated, utilizing the latest technology to record, measure, and ultimately prove (or disprove) the theories that have made their discipline so controversial. Parapsychologists can no longer be accused of being glorified shamans. With their arsenal of video cameras, audio recorders, electromagnetic field (EMF) detectors, and the like, they have made the leap into serious science.

Modern ghost hunters seek concrete, tangible evidence, evidence that will lead to a reasonable conclusion about the phenomena they investigate. The biggest hurtle they face today is the same one they have always faced: acceptance. Many within the scientific community still regard this branch of psychology as a pseudo-science. The nearly total rejection of all things spiritual among scientists has left many who conduct paranormal research struggling to gain credibility for their work.

The increased exposure and popularity that paranormal research is enjoying in popular culture. has brought many new views and fields of study into the the field but as the TV ratings drop, many are leaving the field looking for the next big thing. This is good in a way because it rids the field of "fanboys" and thrill seekers making more room for those who are really in search of answers and truth.

England's Most Haunted City??

York, Edinburgh, and even donkey Derby all lay claim to be England's - or even Europe's - most haunted city.

Yet their claims are tenuous, at best. For each of them conveniently forgets Chester, in North-West England.

Chester can rightly and justly claim to be the most haunted city in England. Our paranormal credentials are impeccable. You could even say it's Chester that puts the super in supernatural!

Chester is an ancient walled city steeped in history. Some 2,000 years ago, Chester was founded as one the three main Roman legionary fortresses in the province of Britannia (along with York and Caerleon, in south Wales).

When the Romans left, Chester became home to successive waves of Celts, Vikings, Saxons and Normans. Edward I's medieval armies mustered at Chester for the war against the Welsh; English troops bound for Ireland sailed from Chester; Royalist cavaliers defended the walled city for eighteen months against their cruel Parliamentarian besiegers; Chester was a powerhouse of Victorian prosperity. In short, Chester's history is Britain's history in microcosm.

All of which means Chester has seen every high and low of human existence: joy and jubilation, famine, floods, plague and war. Even today, Chester remains a vibrant and genuinely atmospheric city.

2,000 Years of History

It's hardly surprising, then, that packed within Chester's defensive walls, its narrow streets and alleyways, its crypts and cellars, are a host of well-documented ghosts, hauntings, apparitions, spooks and poltergeists from almost every century across two millennia.

So there are significant and genuine grounds for claiming that compact and ancient Chester is actually the most haunted city in England.

But don't take our word for it; listen to an expert.

Dave Sadler, of http://www.parascience.org.uk says:
'My belief is that Chester, for its size, has the most haunted activity in the country. Some say it's York or Derby, but I disagree. The amount of ghosts per street in Chester is phenomenal.'
A Catalogue of Ghosts

To substantiate our claim, we've begun the long process of cataloguing Chester's ghosts, poltergeists and hauntings: street by street and house by house.

So far, of course, the list is far from exhaustive. But, as new first hand accounts come in, the list grows longer every day. It seems Chester's venerable ghosts demand recognition.

And so the day when Chester is widely, and officially, recognised as England's most haunted city draws near. Watch this space.

Ouija Dangers

I had no plan to write a page on Ouija board dangers. However, when I mention to people that I am interested in ghosts, phantoms, spectres and the like, I am often asked, 'Do you use a Ouija board?". When I ask why they think that I might do so, I discover that it is as a result of them watching a particular, 'ghost hunting' series on television.

In my opinion, ghost hunting has absolutely nothing to do with séances, 'table tipping', automatic writing or particularly with the Ouija boards. All such methods of communication are dangerous, but particularly so is the Ouija Board. You will not be contacting the 'ghost' but something else entirely different.

But don't just take my word for it. As you might expect you can easily find a Christian warning on Ouija board dangers but eminent psychologists, doctors and even Spiritualists all agree that Ouija boards are dangerous to participants.
However, it seems to be a common misapprehension that one actually has to be using the board to be adversely affected by one. I can tell you, from my own experience that this is just not true.

I was really into board games as a child. monopoly, life, if it was a game I wanted it. One day while out, I saw a Ouija board for the first time so I ask for it and my mom bought it. It provided many hours of fun but as time went on, I found myself being scared of it for unknown reasons. I kept all my game in the same place but the Ouija was the only one I could see as I walked by that spot.

Years pass and children leave home. They they get the call form home to come by because spring cleaning in being done, toys have been uncovered and they seek your approval but the trash man gets them the next day. My Ouija was one of the things in question. I helped with the cleaning, stayed for dinner, and even stayed the night. Mom ask me to carry the trash to the curb for her the next morning to save her tine before work. I did so and forgot the bag the Ouija so I just set it on top of the trash for pick up. Good thing as the trash was early and all was removed. I owned just the one Ouija in my entire life.

Years pass once more and I get a call from home that some toys had been missed is years past and I'f I've no desire for them, once again the trash man to the rescue. I showed and you guessed it. In the very same room, in the very same place, that Ouija board had came home! She remembered I'll tossed one out already. After we both confirmed that only one was ever bought or purchased, high strangeness was aloft. I called a friend for advice. He told me to break the board into pieces and it would break the hold. It was his theory that each board comes with a spirit that binds itself to the board's owner. I done as I was told and demanded I be allowed to care for the trash the next day.

Trash day came the next day and the board was thrown into the truck and hauled away. It never made it back on the second time around. I still get that same feeling even if I see a board on TV and countless of others have shared their grim stories on the subject as well.

So, if you are 'ghost hunting', and think it would a good idea to try and make contact by mechanical means then please bear in mind the warnings of so many knowlegeable people who normally totally disagree with one another. On the subject of Ouija board dangers, you will find many of them in total agreement.

UFO Encounters

For some reason, perhaps all the sightings that were reported the first week of the year, but I've been getting a lot of questions on the subject of UFO's and reports. While I ask for the here, they have came from other sites oddly enough. As I have stated before, I'm far from an expert on the subject, I'll be more than happy to share what I know.

Many wish to know the different types of sighting, so we shall address that one first. The classes most researches go by is First Kind Sighting of one or more UFOs at a distance of 500 feet lor less.
Second Kind: Sighting of a UFO with associated physical effects (e.g. heat, electrical interference, etc).
Third Kind: Sighting of an animated being (presumably an alien but not specifically defined as such).
Since Hynek's original classification several more types have been suggested, although these are not universally recognized:
Fourth Kind: Human abduction by an alien. May also include voluntary experiences.
Fifth Kind: Voluntary bilateral contact between humans and extraterrestrials.
Sixth Kind: Death of a human or animal associated with a UFO sighting. Cattle mutilations would fall into this category.
Seventh Kind: The creation of a human/alien hybrid, either by sexual reproduction or by artificial scientific methods.

Some wish to know the best times to perhaps see one. Many suggest that three to four days after the full moon And three to four days after the new moon. There is a pattern that shows Wednesday between the hours of 8:00 and 10:00pm for the first three types and between 2:00 and 4:00am for the last four. The last four types show no patterns of any day being the favorite for the visitor's to make themselves know. More often than not it seems to be random luck unless a "flap" is in progress. A flap is what many sightings repeating over a certain location are called.

Report show that the most promising view areas are around large bodies of waters and hi power lines. Some believe that there's something in the water that they need or they're draining power from our lines. I tend to shy away from the last one because if they are extra-terrestrial, the must operate by a power far greater than electric. It also seem they favor man-made lakes, some thinking it's because the iron content is higher due to them being constructed rather than a run off or ocean.

They shape of the object vary's so must that I'll only cover the two most reported types, that being round and triangle or wing shaped. Reports show they can have either a single light, many lights, or no lights at all. People describe them as either silent or making a "humming" sound like an electric motor. To my knowledge, no certain power have been confirmed.

As far as what they look like goes, there seem to be two major examples, that being the "grays" and the "reptilians" There are some that claim to have see a "hybrid" mix of human and alien, often said to be blonde with a viking sort of features. They theory that some cling to is they're here to try and save their race so their exploring the medical angle to see if they can cross breed with humans. Bigfoot and insect like creatures have be told to have been seen in and around sighting areas too.

I hope this answers many questions that some have. Should you see one, please come forward and report it. Your voice is the main way in which we gather data, since the Government wishes to say they don't exist while still holding files "Above Top Secret.".

Man Made Earthquakes

Paranormal researchers love a good theory. While I can't say I share a belief in each one I hear, there is one than comes down the pipe that is so scary that it starts to make sense. This is one of those times. I will withold comment on personal thoughts and let the reader think for themselves.

As I've said before I am far from an expert on the subject of UFO's but I do study often on my own time. A colleage I shall call, "Paul" has this as his main interest of study. We had the chance to converse on the field in great lengths today and all it took was the mention of all the recent earthquakes this world seems to be having. Simply saying the the planet is dying or having a growth spurt is too simple for Paul to swallow. I like clear water and Paul seems to gain great joy in stiring my crystal clear streams until they become a muddy puddle. Today wasn't any different.
"It's all that construction of underground bases and labs that we share with those aliens is whats causing all this topside drama!" He stated in a matter of fact tone that he gets when all joking is thrown out the window. "I trust you will change my name with you blog this to your buddies." But of course!" I said knowing he knew me all too well after fifteen years. "Very good then, we shall start at the beginning!" Paul exclaimed as I got comfortable for a place of limbo in "Storyland."

"There are two different types of the bastards, the good and bad if you will." This was the thesis statement of his history lesson of the day. "The first ones were the "Grays" that Kenneth Arnold saw and were connected to the "Foo Fighters" that followed planes in the theater of Europe during the war. Now mind you they were described as round or saucer shaped and held twelve or less in crew. "The got here because they were dying and needed to study us in hopes to save their race. A covert deal was struck between the Government and the aliens. We would supply the "Lab Rats" in exchange for technology that would make us the most advanced country on earth. " As always we got greedy and demanded more. They refused being a peaceful race.

It was at this point I had to interject that this was hardly a new theory." Allow you elders to finish you little shit!" His statement was funny because he is an elder by by four whole month's and is shorter than yours truly! I however gave my blessings to carry on. " It was when we understood "no" to the the ground on which they stood, that we set forth to get said knowledge even if it ment shooting them down and risking a war. Many were lost on both sides in our quest for "global supremacy." This is where we learned how to make things invisible by warping space around an object just as they do. "We did this with a battleship you know in the Gulf Coast." I said yes than movies and books were made about that and they still say it's a hoax now. " That alone you make you look!" Paul said with a chuckle.
He went on to say; "The problem was that living matter could not enter and remain unchanged once visible again." Many vanished never to be seen again, while many were thought insane when the told of insect like creatures on the other side. This is where we found it!" He exclaimed as one that found a large pearl. "Found what, I ask wondering what was leaving "pandora's box" now. " This is where we found out about interdimensional beings and their worlds!" I'm listening I told him." Now here's the grand hoot of it all, son.....

"Those massive generators that warped space also was the key that openend the door between the worlds. So we had to try it again paul said in rather a sad tone. "I fear we openend a door in which we were unable to close. Those creatures soon came in and another deal was made." This is the race of reptiles we hear about." Paul said as a matter of fact. 'So yhey're real?" I had to ask. "Why, as real as your face they are! Hideous bastards void of compassion or remorse they are." "You see for some unknown reason the door could only be openend from our side and we can't shut it."

"So now we have two races to contend with. I ask straight way. 'At one time we did. I have a contact that says the lizzards had all but destroyed them as they were no longer needed." They thought they had the lizzards under control and could track their moves and actions." The bastards got a stronghold now and they're starting to move about freely. Paul went on to say, "Look at how the UFO sightings have changed in the last twenty years. "They're now reporting "Wing shapped" crafts which we have copy in the fornm of fighter jets. At this point I was starting to read ahead of him. "The bigger the craft and when one considers the joint efforts underway between the lizzards as us, the need for larger quarters is a must!" Paul stated as his volume rose over the phone. "And what better place to hide it than under us?" I ask. "Now you're catching on, indeed!" Paul finished.

Now I'm not putting this out as fact so you're welcome to believe it or call it nonsence as you will. It is a grand story that once you have a look at it with an open mind, could very well carry some fact. Something has to be going on rather than just the fact that every fault has got grumpy at the same time. Satellite image's are a dime a dozen so I've little doubt that effective hiding places are going fast. This is one of the stories that one wishes wasn't true but it's that small voice in the back of the mind that will not be slient.

What Makes A Haunting?

That is a question that people in the field of research have pondered for centuries now. If it was happening to me I'd wish not the why but the how to did rid of it! Many theories abound and could all be an answer.

Some think a haunting can occur if someone has passed suddenly in the area in which the haunting now resides. They think the person died so sudden that they have no clue that their dead. Their confused and still try to go about their lives and interact with the living as they always have.

If an area has seem violence or tragic events, it is said the the event is played over and over again in such a way that it is possible to re-live the events as they happen before. These types usually happen only at certain times and under certain conditions.

There are fans of the theory that if a building is built upon land that was one a burial ground that the spirits become restless and a haunting begins. Given the travels of man if this were so, it would seem everything would be built where someone has left their remains. However, it is said that this will happen only when the burial site has been profaned with the showing of proper respect for the departed.

It is believed that someone can be so found of a place that once dead they still can accept the thoughts of moving on. All places house memories and given the property I grew up on seeing both parents passing and the love they had for it, one would think while I was there I'd gotten a visit but such never came my way. That is not to imply because it never fell my way that it can't be true.[/i]

We do know for a fact that things such as the use of Quija Boards and séance's have been the cause of many so-called haunting's but this can cause in infestation which can be mistook for a haunting. Both can open doors of travel to the spirit world and all sorts of beings that desire to use the living as a pawn for their own reasons. Both of the above should be left alone because some doors are easier opened than closed.

The last theory I will address is one that many colleague's of mine are starting to embrace is the " Dimensional" one. You seen for many years it was thought there were only three. Now many say there can be as many as twenty-six! The thought is that when conditions are just right, that it is quite possible to cross from one unto the other. The believe that there is just a thin wall between them all. Some even believe that "beings" have learn Dimensional travel and can cross at will, thus making Ghost, Bigfoot, Mothman, Aliens and such as travelers from another world so near our own that a mere hair's breath comes between the worlds and us.

We have no doubt that things are seen in this world we call home as people who have more to lose than gain bravely come forward and protest it is real almost daily. There are things out there and just because it hasn't paid you or I a visit means nothing. The next time you feel that cold spot or hear that noise, it may not be the wind but a door that you heard. High Strangeness indeed.....

Bigfoot? Well.......

A video shot in a remote Russian woodland showed what appeared to be the fabled hairy beast - leading to claims the Abominable Snowman had been caught.

Reports in the country – which is notorious for strange Yeti and UFO sightings – then said the creature was being held by the secret service. The country has had a large number of sightings of both in the last several years. The Russian government official also confirmed a live female Yeti had been captured after the footage showed the beast attacking a sheep and then running away.

But as news of the incredible sighting spread across Russia and the video went viral on internet – including YouTube — the story was exposed as a hoax. The Federal Security Bureau was forced to investigate the claims but denied it had caught the beast. An FSB official said: "News agencies distributed the information without checking the facts. It's a hoax.

"No such creature has been found here." And as always the views differ even behind whats left of the "Iron Curtain." We can trust them given their history of "sharing" information, right?

Mr Marshani, Minister of Labour and Social Development in southern Russian republic Ingushetia, reportedly told a press conference that the hairy creature was spotted by a hunter as it grabbed a sheep near a village. An armed man once again and no shot was fired.

The hunter thought at first it was a bear but then claimed it stood upright and ran away on two legs. No speed was given so how could he be sure it wasn't a bear or an escaped primate of sorts?

Mr Marshani said: "The animal looks like a gorilla, two meters tall, dark colour, likely to be female, a very big creature. He did not say how the sex of the animal was determined. He went on to say that a wittiness reported that the beast fled waking upright on two legs. Many researcher's believe that the length of travel on two legs proves the sighting not to be a known primate or a bear. since both have a limited range on only two legs. Many held their breath in hopes of have another Patterson film on our hands, but it wasn't ment to be.

The footage went viral and led to Russian reports that the fabled creature had been captured.

But today Mr Marshini retracted his quotes, and claimed footage of the Yeti was a stunt to promote a national park in the region.

This garbage is one of the many reasons that researchers are the laughing stock of science. Now I've no issues if you wish to use it as a promotional tool as long as that intent is stated up front, but acts such as these do little more than inflict damage and nothing more. The world of science is a fowl game in which those who wish to leave and embrace the unknown are opened to scorn and the loss of any major funding for research. I've fought the system for over twenty-years and just when I think inroads are being made, the demon of "hoax" hits us with a rock.
