As I've stated many times, I do not claim to be an expert on the UFO subject, however, I do enjoy the study. Today I thought we'd peek into the different "branches" who have stated the UFO craze is just a myth or a hoax. What puzzles me is, if that's so, why has the world showered so many branches with monies to research something that isn't there? Lets get real, you don't really believe thy pay $1,500.00 for a single hammer do you?
Project Sign began it's life on 1 October 1947. The then Chief of the project, Edward J. Ruppelt, stated that UFO's "Were interplanetary of origin." ( Randles, Jenny THE UFO CONSPIRACY: THE FIRST FORTY YEARS)
On 11 February 1949, Project Sign got the ax but was brought back under the name; "Project Grudge". This program was was to prove once and for all that UFO's did no can can not exist. It even went far enough to "purge" those in the project who may have not agreed with the above said findings. The was never any valid proof offered that "Project Grudge" every tired to explain any as real or a hoax. Again the question is, did they run into more than they could handle, or was it simply a way to divert funds?
27 December 1949, The USAF made an effort to rid their hair once and for all of this UFO mess. "Project Grudge" was closed by stating that there was no threat found on our Nation's Security and people were either just paranoid, crazy, liars, or had became adamant that anything they could not identify, was in fact, a UFO. This lasted a bit over several years.
October 1957, the need to create a "New Project Grudge" came about as more and more sightings came to light, many of whom had the connections to keep from being ignored. In the years to come "Project Blue Book took over it all. They had files of 12,618 sightings with 701 of those cases deemed "unidentified" before it closure in 1969. Once again the same line of, "No threat to National Security.", was the stance taken. In accordance with JANAP 146 Or Air Force Manual 15-11, any sightings that could effect National Security, was sent beyond project Blue Book anyway. JANAP is a military order forbidding public disclosure of UFO information on pilots both military and commercial. Defiance of said order can lead to ten years in jail and a fine of ten thousand dollars. Steep price for reporting something that doesn't exist? Makes one wonder the punishment for reporting a plane flying over one's house is?
Also noteworthy, in 1969, The Air Force contacted the University of Colorado to study UFO's under the name, "The Condron Committee". This was headed by Edward Condon and Robert Low. Shortly thereafter an outbreak of sightings over Dexter Michigan were explained away as swamp gas. It is said that the University was paid the hefty sum of $313,000.00 for this study! On 17 December, 1969 this too was closed down and held the past findings true. Again, same B.S. different day.
By 1953 the CIA also had it's long arm in the cookie jar and started what would be know as "The Robertson Panel." The spent the grand total of three to five days and looked into fifty cases from the Blue Book files. Guess what they found? If you said "No threat to National Security", you are our grand prize winner! Now here's where it thickens. In 1978 under the Freedom of Information Act, 1,700 pages of FBI files were obtained. Now to me it seems that the Robertson Panel was the old show you whats in the left hand trick, to keep you from seeing what the right had is doing!
Is life forms from other planets able to visit us on a regular basis? I really don't know. Given the facts above it seems that there are "some" going to extreme measures to hide something from those of us I feel have every right to know. It also seems like there has to be better ways to divert funds too. While I agree that some secrets must be kept, it also seems the more you can gather on potential invaders, the more prepared a country could be to defend against a hostel takeover from anyone. Wold Paul Revere had made his now famous ride if he knew that ridicule and scorn was the best he could expect?
