I did have one case unsolved during the early part of my career as a researcher. This couple had purchased a rental property and they were having problems keeping renters due to the goings on. There would be sounds heard, lights going on and off, objects moved and missing and who know what else that the owners wasn't told. Now all these people wasn't behind on their rent or damaging the property, all left in good standing simply stating the goings on was just too much. Still early in the days of research when you gear was a recorder and a simple camera. When we were called in the house had stayed empty for some time, long enough for the electric, phone, and cable to all be vacant from the house. We entered through the back door at dusk seeing straight ahead a broom closet with the door open and various items still in the shelving left by the last people who live there. I don't know why but a Cue ball on the middle shelf caught my eye as I walked over to it and picked it up. After making some sill joke that escapes me now. I placed the ball back on the shelf then we went to the kitchen to look around. We had stood there perhaps five minutes, was a loud KERPLUNK! sound was heard. I snapped around at a moments notice to find the cue ball at my feet! The lady that was with me on this property was positive that the ball was thrown at us. at the angle I was standing has someone thrown the ball, I would have seen the get it and the toss itself. There wasn't any. We walked over to the closet and the ball was missing meaning I was holding it in my hand. Now here comes a neat trick My uncle pass onto me to check a spot to see if it's level. You can take a glass of water or take the label off a soda bottle so the contents can be seen, now set the glass or the bottle on the spot you wish to see if it's level. I always carry a soda with me being the "soda junkie" that I am so a soda would have to do. The shelf that rested the cue ball was level and, as best we could tell so was the kitchen floor. The living room, two bedrooms, and, the hallway was carpet, leaving only the kitchen and bath with tile. Now we went to the far back of the house where the bedrooms were. Now think of the panic when the same KERPLUNK! sound was heard on carpet and the cue ball laying there! We ran out and move quickly around the house just to be sure she wasn't right this time. With noting to hide behind we can confirm no one else was there. After going back in placing things back as they were, we hurried off to check out the last bedroom we had to check. Now if you guess another KERPLUNK!, you are today's winner! How does carpet go KERPLUNK?? I was starting to get upset so I held onto it. No other sounds were recorded. and no photos showed a single orb or nothing just a empty house with a few leftover items in various. Before leaving the cue ball was placed once again on the shelf and the door was sealed behind us. The following day when the findings would be revealed, I mentioned the cue ball. Then all of us went in the same back door to have a look at this sight, the cue ball had vanished! Search was made yet it was never seen again. How does something vanish out of a locked house with no signs of forced entry and the keys never left the owners sight? Whats the odds that a trick was being played with a ball which I'd handled, and, knew was just a standard ball and nothing more? Years passed and the place was sold to a friend of a friend of mine. I went with Michael to deliver a gas stove that was bought to install in the home. After the job was done I ask the new owner if him and his family liked living there and he said yes. Before leaving, I mentioned the fact that the place was said to be haunted, to which he replied not one single thing had happened in the seven months they had been there. I am still trying to figure out why a location would become quiet after one inverstgation, and, what become of that cue ball.....until the next time.....
