How many times I've ask myself that is unknown even to me. I won't bore you with my life's history, just enough to make a point. I wanted to play Pro Baseball. I had family in the that was opening the Door for the Reds in the spring. If I do good, the dream has come true. Two week before my eighteenth birthday, My mother and I hit a concrete ditch head-on at seventy miles an hour, and in the process destroying my left knee. Game over. Then I wanted to be a Rock Star. I came close to signing on the dotted line, when inner egos broke up the band. Strike 2. Then I got a camera. I was overjoyed with my new finding and scared as well of another stop at the corner of "Screwed Again" street and "Broken Blvd." At last I had the creative outlet I needed and income as well. My passion has been with nature and wildlife. Ansel Addams was the goal I had to strive for. I still am for that matter. Then I saw it. HOLY H. G. WELLS it was a UFO! Just like on TV! It was round, glowing, and came to a complete stop in mid-air. It was just there. The last thing at that moment of course, on my mind was a camera. Then my best friend saw it and we started screaming trying to get the entire hood to see this marvel of travel. It was turning dusk when the air started filling with planes and choppers bent on boxing this thing in so there could be no escape. Now while still stopped in mid-air, this thing slowly started to dim until it was gone. The other aircraft stayed for several minutes as if bewildered at the happening themselves. Now you will hardly catch me anytime without some sort of camera in arm's reach. I've not seen another in the fifteen years since that sighting. Yeah, I still look and hope but no ET yet. As a child with no cable, reading and storytelling was a great way to pass time during the evening or in bad weather. My Grandmother on my mom's side was one hundred percent Indian with the paperwork to back it up. She was a short stern looking soul who's hair was below waist level. Now she could tell the stories! many hot summer nights I slept with the cover pulled all the way up, because all ten year old kids know that no ghost, vampire, alien, or Wolfman can remove those "magical blankets!" We would sneak and go to these haunted places and have a look see for ghost and such creatures. We were after the paranormal then just without knowing it. Many of the houses we did hear noises in but were told it was nothing and to forget it. My love for this was what caused me to get my first paranormal photo. I was shooting a Motel that was for sale so while waiting for it to be unlocked, I started with the outside. I was using a Canon EOS705 with a 28-70 zoom lens. It was late fall so I was using Kodak 400 ISO color film. I finished the job and headed back to process the contact sheet. When finished, I handed the proof to the lady that was helping me, then turn back to clean up. The basement is the darkroom so she yelled for me to come up there. Since she'd been with me on the entire shoot, I just knew I'd mess it up because nothing, no matter how small got by her. "There was no one out there with you when you shot the outside, remember?" I agreed as she turned to laptop around to show me full screen the photo that was to stare me in the face. I nearly shat my pants because over my left shoulder was the face of something who's head is about 4 time larger than my own and eyes as black as coal. "You see it don't you?" she ask in a stern sort of way. I remember saying over and over again that some mistake had been made, and, it could not be there. I could find no problems in the lab so I show the photo and neg. to several people and they saw the same thing without being led in anyway. Kodak has confirmed the neg nor the print has been altered or "fixed" in any form. I still have both today. The point I'm making is that all roads have led my life to here, where I am today. I have proof things are out there, and, there are other "things" out there I wish I knew nothing of because sometimes I still don't sleep too well. I've always thought the vocation chooses the person and not the other way around. Don't decide to do this because you think it's a ticket to fortune and and fame. Take a moment now and see if your own path meets here or are the directions a matter of your own doing. Better think hard class fore we are about to dive in head-first! Until the next time...................
